Just so you know when I lived in Illinois it didn't take months to get a FOID card I had mine in 2 weeks :D. But then again my fingerprints are in the FBI data list since I installed Fire & Security Alarms in Illinois. So that little bit helped me where others can wait up to 6 months.

Also the State of Wisconsin has removed waiting times. I can go in any store that sells a gun be it handgun or rifle and walk out 10 minutes later after the background check is passed. And trust me it takes me 10 minutes since I have several guns and have those Fingerprints in the FBI System.

My complaint with guns sales is selling 2nd hand to someone privately. When I sell a gun I have two bills of sales written up with both owners information on it, serial number of gun, type of gun, maker, caliber, year it was bought and model number. I make the person buying it sign it along with a statement it will not be used for illegal activity and that he is legal to own and purchase a gun. I had one guy refuse so walked away. Law Abiding people who own guns don't have a problem with that stuff.

I would like to see that in any private transaction that you have to go through a background check just like you are buying from a store. Even some of the gun shows around here don't make people do that. That is where you run into problems. You can get around background checks but it isn't all that easy to do. But if you lie on it and someone sees it or reports you. You are in big trouble.

I am going to start the process of procuring a relic license that allows me to purchase and have any antique/relic gun classified as such to be sent to my house. But I have to have the county and local sheriff sign off on it and go through a bunch of background checks and it doesn't bother me one bit to do so.

So, he hated Mexicans. There has to be better mental health background checks or something. Maybe we just have to accept mass shootings as part of American life. Just a part of everyday life.
No one should have to live in fear of being killed just for getting groceries or going to the bank.
It's all ready bad enough when the kids have to have active shooter drills in school.
Giving up and saying "oh well, it is what it is" is not the answer.
Yes, its an overwhelming task to try and fix the problem and there is a lot government red tape bullshit to cut through to get there but how many people have to die for nothing other than living their day to day lives before everyone has had enough.
How many kids have to grow up without parents
How many parents have to live with the loss of a child
It's an act of terror.
IMO there is no difference other than the body count between that and crashing a plane into the side of the building.

It sure would feel good to think that laws will stop shootings. I wish that were true. I have a really extensive felony background, and I could have an uzi in my hands by tomorrow. If I were motivated to kill people, it wouldn’t be hard to figure out how, even in a country where guns are illegal on paper. We should probably try to restrict some access to people for sure, but I have serious doubts that it will actually work. I made my living on the black market for many years as a young man, and from my perspective, there is no law that will stop a person from getting access to an assault weapon.

Maybe not a gun, but waiting for ammo would be silly. Fortunately i live in a state where I can buy a have a new gun in an hour. I hope we become a 2A sanctuary state.

Well, all I know is, until you've been in a public shooting, you really don't know how you would react when one happens. I was 12, in school (1981), and at recess when I experienced my first one. There's nothing like hearing bullets cutting the wind over your head while you are running back into the school to avoid being hit. I was also in another public shooting a couple of years ago, they aren't fun, actually terrorizing. I still have videos of me being interviewed on the local news after that one. So, maybe my perspective is a little different than most. Plane crashes and bank robberies are also scary, believe me, I've been in those as well. But, shootings are the most terrorizing.

Well the guy who shot up the place recently in colorado was a muslim taken from syria when he was 12. We need to get the border shut and return immigration to how it's supposed to happen. You also can't take things away from people who've done nothing wrong.

So, I'm assuming that the Muslim immigrated here legally with his family. I know that everybody has a border hard on these days. Can you name one mass shooting done by a Mexican who snuck across the border? America would go to shit without the Hispanic population (legal and illegal) that currently lives here, and the Government knows that it would. Imagine being a legal Hispanic and knowing that everyone who looks at you thinks that you are here illegally. I've witnessed so much racism against legal Hispanics by ignorant white people. It's actually pretty disgusting and pathetic behavior from mostly judgemental white people who have no idea of a Hispanic person's legal immigration status. To them, Hispanic = Illegal, no questions asked.

What would go to shit without the illegal Hispanic population exactly? If you say the cost of building homes would go up 40% I will literally lose my mind.

The cost of living for one. Most white people wouldn't even consider doing the same jobs as legal Hispanics do for the wages that they get paid. It would happen in many industries, including homebuilding. I owned a framing company for years, the white guys literally priced themselves out of work. Why would a company hire one white guy for $30/hour when they could have two Hispanics (legal or on work visas) for $15/hour? Housing prices would go up, I'm not sure by how much, but they would definitely rise. Especially, in non-union situations. But, construction is just one industry of many that would struggle without Hispanic workers. It's not a secret.

If immigration worked properly, then industries would change based around that. It would all balance itself out, if you let the free market work. It always has. The border is the an absolutely massive national security issue, all sorts of extremely dangerous people are and can get in through the border. We have a lot of enemies in the world, we need to isolate our land mass from anybody entering any time they want, that's how you get things like ISIS cells and cartel problems. If our economy and laws weren't so manipulated, everybody could work less, our money would actually be worth something tangible, and the cost of living wouldn't inflate when the central bankers type in 0's and print money any time they want to ruin our country. Cost of living and wages and all of that is a very very complex economic and financial situation. Corporations get most of the money while the central banks print money. So our value as individuals is pushed down to nothing. It's all just one big intentional sh*t show.

Statistically, assault weapons are a very small percentage of shootings even though the AR15 is like the number one selling weapon. Handguns and other means like baseball bats and stuff kill more people
