Wrong. There is no information in the question that can be used to solve for the 9 hours between 0300 and 1200, or for the time of "sundown". Without a way to solve for those variables, the equation simply cannot be solved.
The irony is that you think it CAN be solved and you presented it to try to show you are smart but instead showed you are wrong. Well done.

You can solve for unknown variables if there is information included in order to solve for them.
Without that information, it's impossible. Don't fool yourself into thinking you are smart by presenting an impossible equation. It's only made you look more stupid than you already do, which is quite a feat.

But since you presented the challenge, know how to do the equation, and know the solution, share it with us. I have stated that I cannot do it. You obviously can, so present us with the solution. Show us you are better than me at math. Show us you do math all day every day in WAYS that are incomprehensible to us laypeople.
Don't add this to the list of challenges I have given that you have failed to meet. The list is getting too long.
In case you forgot the challenge, here it is:
"A plant is producing cells at a rate of 6 per hour for the first three hours of the day. By mid-day that rate has tripled. By sundown the rate has dropped to two. There was a rain shower just past mid-day that caused the plant to stop production until after the shower at which it began producing cells again at a rate 8 times higher than it was during mid-day.
