As for the acquittal, duh. The Republicans voted directly along party lines. Of COURSE there isn’t going to be a supermajority.

Shit, Pence speaks against him and Trump’s sycophants wanted to hang him on Jan 6th. Imagine what would have happened to anyone in the party who DIDN’T acquit.

It's just politics as usual. Bill Clinton was impeached for not coming clean about getting BJs from an intern. Why shouldn't Trump have his day in court for covering up that he was banging a **** star? Yeah democracy.

I'm referring to Trump's current legal woes - like Clinton, Trump tried to cover up his extra marital activities. About as apple to apples as we're going to get.

As far as why Trump was impeached, (the first time) that was because his campaign manager got caught handing over polling data to Russia for future business considerations. That polling data helped Russia launch a very effective political campaign against Hillary Clinton. Trump either was separated from that activity or was smart enough to maintain a few degrees of separation from that activity. Fortunately, for Trump the "law and order" conservatives decided the best way to handle the matter was to have a trail with no witnesses.

It's just a joke how both parties are using the legal system to pander these days...but when you have the populace voting for a D or R instead of learning about the candidates...it's not surprising

I can see a difference between a candidate paying a **** star to hush via NDA and a sitting president encouraging getting BJs but a federal employee working for him. Honestly I don't think either deserve a criminal charge. The secure documents issue should have been tried for Biden, Trump, Pence, and Hillary. All of them clearly violated the law when it comes to classified documents handling.

Also the impeachment trial of Clinton was never a criminal trial whereas the charges for Trump are criminal.
