windshield flex issues?

I know i am not very loud, so dont take this as me boasting.. But my front windshield was cracked from a rock, replaced at a body shop, when i was getting some work done from an insurance claim..

Well since then my rear view mirror would never stay in the same place when bumping, and it finally took the pad off the windshield, with a small chunk of glass.. and not much longer i heard a new sound, my windshield flapping in and out when i ave the volume up.. i have friends who work for safelite and can get a new windshield on the cheap, but is this going to continue happening?

not so much a goal when its your daily driver, im thinking the windshield flapping is just a bad glue job but should i just say forget the mirror all together or what?

It's not a goal. It costs you DB's. Flex is a bad thing. Here is my recommendation. You need some sticky and dense material. deadener is great but it's not quite dense enough in this scenario. Go to your local golf store and get some lead tape. Stick that right in the center of your roof near your windsheild where the flex is the worst. Put as much as you can afford there.(It will take a lot, but the weight/size ratio is a lot higher than that of sound deadener.) Then put sound deadener over the top of it, concentrating on the center. (deadener out towards supports doesn't do anything. You're trying to add mass to the center of the panel.)

my old car did this. couldn't keep the button on the glass and it took a chunk the last time. i just left it off after that. this car with the same setup doesn't have that problem at all. i have tried to knock it off and it won't happen. i even had a window shop put the other one on 2 or 3 times before i gave up on it.

i would actually like to keep my rearview mirror since i drive a truck...

i will have to see how much this is going to cost, but again i know i am not that loud, so i dont understand why my factory windshield that ws cracked for months never had that problem... and the mirror stayed strong too... wouldnt rattle at all other than being useless when a bass note hit..

In most vehicles, a rear view mirror is required by law, and not having one is a ticketable offense. Just sayin.
That moderator blood is filling up your brain so much your ready to start doing some real life bans!

This^

i honestly dont even care about the legal aspect, i would like to have it for everyday life, considering i back up almost everytime i get into my truck.. and i understand that flex is wasted energy, and im not saying flex is good, but it doesnt seem to be an issue of flex in the windshield frame or roof more like the windshield came unglued at the top, not even in the center almost directly in front of the drivers seat...

and about that lead tape, wouldnt it be more economical to use stick on wheel weights?
