Window tint.

being that i've been tinting windows for 18 years now i think i should reply to this. you didn't say what kind of car you have but most CARS don't have privacy glass from the manufacturer. suv's and minivans do some crossover vehichles do have it but it depends on the model.

the factory tint is such that the glass is made that color when it is made, no factory tint is on the front windows of any car or suvs period. if you bought a brand new car and it has some tint to the front doors it is because it was done at the dealership, aftermarket. there is however a slight color in tempered glass due to the fact that it is heated very rapidly and cooled then heated again numerous times, it can "burn in a color" due to this process but it is in no way to be considered factory tint.

since you live in mass i believe the laws for front windows is 50% which would not match the back windows. that might be what the shop did because they might not tint "illegal" for your state, or they might have used a 35% or a 30% which would still be lighter than your back ones. the tint will not get darker as it dries and you should wait 2 to 3 days since it is cold up there for it to cure and the water bubbles will clear up as this happens.

most cars do come with factory tint to a extent //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif depends on how its made, most has a green shade to it.

truth on 2nd bolding

I tend to like the front windows lighter than the back ones so I dont get harassed by the cops. I have the front at 20% while the back is at 5%, but that's just me.

Also, to answer your question, I dont think the tint will get any darker than they already are or at least mine didnt.

no they don't. you are confusing it with "burn in color". what you are "seeing" does not block heat or uv rays like window film does there for you shouldn't be saying it is tint cause it does nothing to protect the car like window film does. the green that you see is completely unintentional by the company making it

i know what it is, i do autoglass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif most considerate tint. i know what goes on when manufacturing the glass.

but im seeing more and more cars with factory tint on the doors. on atleast the newer models. most older models dont have chit

you and i are on the same page then but you need to stop calling it factory tint, when you say that to the average person then they take that to mean, "i don't need to get my car tinted because the factory already did it".

its all about educating the consumer

hard to break the habbit really. ive had customers ask me about their "factory tint" so i call it that. would be pita to explain to them its not tint especially when u get asked about a doorglass everyday.

it only takes a couple minutes to do it but i get the biz right then....alot of my cust. have been with me since i started. besides i love what i do and i get paid for it too.

something i read along time ago..."find a job you love to do and you will never work a day in your life"

well we really dont deal with tinting but they ask us if the glass will match their fatory tint so we just say yeah. but then again our customers have been following my dad since before he opened his company up.

yeah good saying. i dont exactly love my job, but its work i like doing it cause i love working with my hands. its only to get me by until im old enough to become a sherrif

I just got my car back from a shop that tinted my front windows to match my back ones, the back is about 20% but the front is not quite as dark. I also wasn't too happy to see they just applied it over my old tint that came with the car instead of stripping it. Does it take a few days for the drying period to end to get darker?

Could have been a communication issue. When I got my fronts tinted I asked for the deepest legal, they said 65%. I saw it in a car they had in the lot at dusk and thought it'd be fine. I got it done, then when I drove around and looked at the truck in a different light I realized it looked barely tinted.

After about 2 months of tolerating the fact that I paid good $$$ for something that didn't even look like it was done I paid to have it taken off and replaced with 20. Rear windows are 17. Not a perfect match and the front is a tad bit lighter but it's good enough. Couldn't deal with any darker front or rear as already I have some difficulty backing up at night without rolling them down or putting the rear fogs on and on some dark streets where I have to look through a side window to make sure the corner's clear before turning I can't see that clearly.

I always thought tint laws were a bit retarded in that most states deal with front darkness but not rear. So if a cop stops you and walks up to the driver's seat at night there couldnt be a rear seat passenger with a gun in HIS lap?
