I have a 2003 impala.....it will cost me like 200 dollars plus tax to get my windows tinted.....the shop that is going to do it....says that they can do the back two windows and the back window however dark i want....my question is should i just do 20 percent all the way around instead of making one darker etc....please help lol.

I'd keep it even all the way around. If you do 20 % it should keep ya outta trouble, since your state only allows 50%. IMO I'd just do 5% all the way around then just roll down your windows when you see a cop. I've had double 5% on all the sides and front windshield tinited with 35% for about 2 years and have yet to been busted. I enjoy the heat rejection and shade that it provides during the last 25 days which have been 110+ deg!

Even and level tint looks better then lighter up front darker in back.

does 35% on the windshield make it hard to see at night or during the rain? cause im going to get my windows tinted 5% all around (or thats what i planned on) but not sure if i should do the windshield or not

I'd agree with you for basic black or smoke tint, however there are some reflective tints such as SunGard Endurance and SolarGard Quantum that offer almost the same perceived darkness when one shade apart (15% back, 20% front, for example) due to the refectivity factor.

I have Endurance tint on my GTI and absolutely love it (20% all around, but I have seen other vehicles at the tint shop with F/R mixed). Almost everyone I know that dislikes refective tint has commented on how nice my car looks just because it's a darker, subtler, more pewter colored reflection instead of bright silver.

Good stuff, too. Comes with a nationwide lifetime warranty even against color fade (it's 100% metallized, so no dyes to turn purple over time) and wasn't more out of pocket than the basic black colored metallized-dyed hybrid film. If you have or plan to have satellite radio with an internal antenna, metallized film can interfere with reception, just so you know.

i just got 5% all the way around my explorer, on top of the 35% or whatever comes factory on the back. ITS DARK!! But i love it, and i dont really give a sht if i get pulled over for it, he would have to be up close to notice a differnce.

not the best pic, but you get the idea..

^ looks nice!

I thought about getting another layer of 20% for my rears, but that would drop it to below 5% overall and I don't want to risk it on the roads. Probably wouldn't be much of an issue, but LE here does pull people over for it once in a blue moon. And knowing my luck..... yeah.

thanks. All my friends have always had 5% all the way around, and only one of us has ever gottne a ticket, and that was on a Ferry where a cop was walking around. Its a fix-it ticket down here so no biggy.

No, having the front windshield tinted in 35% doesnt effect night time driving, but what I've noticed in having 5% or darker on the sides does effect making left turns in a intersection because you cant see if anyone is in the crosswalk and sometimes you need to crack the window to make sure no one is crossing so you dont hit them.

I've also upgraded using a HID coversion kit which really helps out alot during night time driving.

i think 20% all around looks good, and you aren't likely to get pulled over either. for reference, most minivans and SUV's with privacy glass are 20%. visibility isn't bad at all at night, and on a sunny day cops can see in very easily, and can see in on a cloudy day too, and if a cop can see in, he won't pull you over.

also i wouldn't go any darker than 35% on the windshield, i'd be safe and go with 40-50%. its enough to make a difference, but not dark enough to be a cop target
