Will this work?

Hey,

I'm pretty new to car audio systems. I recently ordered two Alpine SWR-1022D type R 10" subs. However I'm wondering if my old amplifier will power them. I have an older model pioneer amp. It is GM-7100M 800 watt amp. Any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated! If this will not work I was leaning toward getting the Alpine MRP-M1000 1000 watt amp. Good choice or not?

well first of all you are talking two different languages. that pioneer is 360 rms watts peak 800, which doesnt mean a single thing and its lowest impedence is 2 ohms an alpine mrp 1000 is 1000 rms watts @ 2 ohms and those subs are svc 2 ohms i think so you cant wire them to 2 ohms.

Just wondering, is english your first language? That made my brain hurt trying to read that.

The Type-r's the OP listed are actually DVC 2ohm subs. Your main wiring option is 2 ohms final load, so you should try and find an amp that is about 1000w RMS at 2 ohms.

ZRS-C65 CADENCE AMP 1 CH 2400W SUBWOOFER SUB AMPLIFIER - eBay (item 120670447251 end time Mar-11-11 15:04:35 PST)amazing amp at 2ohm give u a lil mor epower

jbl 1200.1 amplifier - eBay (item 180631656239 end time Mar-04-11 06:54:47 PST)

a better option then cadence and alpine, amazing amp known to put out 1400rms at 1 and 2 ohm

Depending where it ends that JBL BP1200.1 would be a perfect amp for your subs. The JBL GTO1201.1 is supposed to be a hell of an amp as well. The Alpine would fit as well.

the spec sheet that google popped up said svc 2 ohm. I speak better English than you I just went back and haphazardly edited a few spots in the aforementioned post.

id wait on that jbl last minute then buy it, u will never find that amp brand new like that again and the great thing is it is 1 and 2 ohm stable, so if u decide 2 change subs your not stucka t max power at one load.
