phat is not raggin on you, he's stating facts...

2 8 guage's=1 run of 5 guage

each time you double the wire, you go down 3 times in the guage

If you are going to actually run a second run of 8 guage through your vehicle then you are totally wasting your time. Nothing will be harmed, of course, but nothing will be benefited. If it is allready ran through the vehicle, and all you have to do is connect it, then go ahead...

Also, if you add a second run of power wire then be sure to add a second run to the ground as well.

But as I said, you will gain nothing at all. I would spend my time upgrading to 4 guage or larger, for when you gain some sense and decide to upgrade amps.

I would just go out and spend the money on either a single strand of good 4awg or go with something like 2awg and that way you can upgrade later. I would always rather run a single stand of wire than to run multiple stands of something that is too small, you start to run into alot of what if's . Just do it right the first time and be confident, this will save you a lot of headaches later on.
