will this work for bigger power wire?

ok, so i have a 1000W amp, and i have 2 8ga power wires. i only have one hooked up right now, and it doesnt push out enough power, so it made sense to me that i could just hook up both of the power wires together to put out enough watts.. This makes sense, but i was just double checking.. Will this work?

please help, thanks,

jake

It wouldn't hurt... but even two 8 guage wires are quite small. Step it up to at least a single run of 4 guage.
Do you get more power out of a 4ga, then two 8 ga? they would equal to the same size right? or no? and how much power do you think i would get out of 8ga, and of 2 8ga?

Your Sony amp does not do 1000w, at all. If it's rated for 380w, I wouldnt trust it to even do that. Max power means nothing, it is just a number that manufacturers come up with to attract people that just look for high numbers (you fell for it, oh well sell the POS and get something worth keeping.)

A single run of 8 guage will do fine for the minimal amount of power you have on tap, the wiring has nothing to do with the fact that your amp is not putting out 1000w; it is not a 1000w amplifier //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Oh well, live and learn buddy.

yo, i didnt ask you to rag on my amp, i was just asking a question
Yo, you got an answer. Your amp does no where near 1000w, I am just stating a fact. 8 guage is more than enough for the small amount of power you will get from that amp, so if you think its not 'making enough power' then get a new amp... and maybe one that doesnt say Sony:laugh:

And I see you removed '1000w MAX' from your sig... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

1 4ga. is bigger than 2 8ga. wires. amps draw current through the wire, the smaller the wire, the less current will be allowed to flow. Bigger wire = easier transfer of current.
