Will this be alright?

Hey everyone,

I currently have 4 awg wiring ran though my truck. It is about 15ft of 4awg from the battery to the distro block, then about 1ft of 4awg to my Mono amp pushing ~750 watts and then 2ft of 4awg to my 2chaneel amp pushing about 120watts.

So im running 750watts on class D and 120 on class a/b.

I wanted to check with you guys and see if its safe for me to run it like this..

I have 2awg wiring sitting in my closet, the only problem is there is no room to run the wire in my new truck. (The space in the doorseal thingys on the sides is packed full with factory wiring, the biggest is could squeeze in there is 4awg, and even that is a tight fit...)

if i run it under the carpet it will have a buldge the size of the 2awg wiring, and i can not have that as i want to keep this very very clean in my new truck.

what kind of truck is it. i have 1/0 awg in my truck ran through the door sills under the factory panel.

its a 2005 F150. In my old truck (02 F150) i had plenty of room and could run 1/0awg as well.

But in these new body style f150's that area under the factory panel is packed full of wires..

Well look at the maximum current draw from either amp and add them together. The recommended max for 4awg is 150A I believe. Remember though, as long as you are not running the amplifiers at maximum all day long (you wont be unless you are competing, and even then, the a/b amp wouldnt come into play), you wont be reaching anywhere near the maximum current draw.

Just a little hint though,

P=IV

I=P/V

Assuming 14.4V constant,

I=750/14.4

52.08A

@ ~70% efficiency:

52.08(.3)=15.624

=67.704

Idealy, assuming my math is correct, the amp will pull a max of ~70A at full capacity, and there is no way that the a/b will pull the extra 80A if it is only rated for 120wrms.

Thanks for the help. yea i got that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif My amps are actully both rated for more but thats how much power it will be putting out once i adjust my gains correctly..

My amps actully have digital readouts, showin the current draw, so when setting the gains if i play a test tone and set the gain it should show me my current draw correct?

I guess i'll be alright with 4awg then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif yeay...
