Ok im upgrading my mids/highs and im gona get one of these 2 amps. Not sure which one yet im thinking the crossfire one. Until i can get the components i want it will be powering the speakers i posted a link too. Will it blow those speakers fast? Because its gona be about a month before i can get a component set.

The gain knob is on the amp for a reason. While it is not the same thing as a volume knob, you can use it as one in your situation to an extent. When you set it for maximum output, that is your maximum gain setting. From there, you can turn it as far down as you want. So, you do not need to be putting the full output of your amplifier into your stock speakers. Throw maybe 50W into those stock speakers, see how they sound. They might not even be able to handle that much, but play around with that setting a little. Don't go too much, just put enough into them to get by until you get better ones, so that you know you won't blow them and be out of sound for some time. And once you set your gain at that lower setting, don't touch it after that. Your ears will get used to the sound, and you will want to turn it up, but remember that you can blow some speakers if you do. Once you get your new speakers, you can go back and retune.

Just remember to not go past your max gain setting on the amp. Amp gain affects volume, but it is not the same as the volume knob on your head unit.

it is very hard to explain what can be done without making the gain sound like the volume knob we are always preaching it is not. You did very good in explaining though. OP, remember, once you set your gain to match your HU signal at a specific level, then that specific volume level is your system max volume. (example: 45 out of 60) You can lower the gain to decrease the power output to a level your speakers can manage, but always remember not to exceed the pre determined max HU volume to avoid clipping the HU output signal.

Those Hifonics should handle 80-100w

ps - I'd do the Image Dynamics, you will not find another one at that price, and there were very few of them available at Sonic.

Another thing to remember is that you have a volume knob. Even if you set the amp to run at full power at say 45/60, doesn't mean you need to put the volume that high before you get your new speakers. It isn't that hard to hear when front speakers are being over powered. If you hear it, turn your volume down a few notches
