Will not power on

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.

I installed a pioneer DEH-X6700BS head unit in my older Nissan truck last year.  I had removed it from my grandsons truck when he sold it in 2016.

Have not used this truck much but the unit always worked great.   I noticed a few months ago it would not power on when I used the truck .  When I got back in it the same day  it was back on and working great.

It did this several times but would always come back on.  Now it will not power on at all.   I checked power at both yellow wire which has 12 volts all the time and red wire which has power when key is on.  This unit has not been used much since bought new.

I checked the black ground wire in harness using my test light and I have power on yellow and red so that would eliminate the ground I would think .  I installed it myself and made sure I had a good chassis ground.

Anything I can test to see if head unit is dead ? The 10 amp fuse plugged in back of head is good.    Just strange that it would work one day and the next nothing.  The truck sits most of the time but when I do use it I need the option of Bluetooth and of course some music.   Thanks for any help.  Tom.

Most of the times I see issues like this it relates to the wiring connections themselves.  best approach is to solder the connections and protect with heat shrink.  another method is to use crimp connectors which requires the proper tool to crimp them.  twisting wires then taping should be avoided as those connections are always suspect.  any taping should be done with good electrical tape (3M Super 33+ is recommended).

I suspect connections since the issue is sporadic.

Connections are good.  I put it on the workbench, connected ground and hot wire.  Nothing.  This four year old head is dead it does appear :)

Though an existing fuse looks normal/good to the human eye, there is a possibility that it can be damaged or has gotten weakend over time .I would replace the old/ existing fuse and see if that may be a possibility. Ive had fuses that were barely making contact/about to fall apart  inside the casing that was not visable

A bad connection for the faceplate can cause a unit to appear dead and not respond.   I agree that fuses should be metered to verify (i measure voltage on each side of the fuse at the exposed metal tab end)

With 6500 rms.. you are still going to need some battery bank and/or supply for that demand
