Will it be enough?

sorry, its a 96 toyota corolla with 70 amp stock alt =\ not will to upgrade alt though, =\ I only need this car to last me another year, then the Sa's will be put in a blazer. For right now, I just play on music for daily use and maybe and couple demos at full tilt.

Someone will make one.

Talk to Mechman, DC, EA, Mean Green, Ohio Gen.....someone somewhere will make one. Worst thing you can do is install it all and fry an amp from low voltage. Do it, do it right. Wait till you have the right gear for the install.

You will be uch happier with a working investment than one you paid for that is now in the dumpster because you never heeded advice given to you.

I completly agree with that, Its just that I recently sold my budget system (pair of L7's and an LA-3000MD) and was looking to upgrade to something a little more beefy. But like you said, I will only go with it, if it can be done right. I will look into getting a quote for a new alt and work on saving some cash! I just miss beating lol.

I agree as well..,and some of the most intelligent advice given, and taken in such a long time, that I have read on this forum,.Deff the stock alt isnt going to get it done in that vehicle with that amp.

If the 160 amp unit is in the original style housing, it is going to have pretty low output at idle, and will more than likely burn up. That style of rectifier was only designed for about 100 amps max.

Another option would be to convert your stock alternator to run @ 16.8 volts (we charge $150 for the external regulator) and switch to XS power D1400's. You could then use the D1400's and external regulator in your next vehicle. You will get a lot more power out of the amp, and even though the alternator is undersized, you could stay in the 14 volt range at full tilt. (at least for a little while)

The D1400's are a lot better quality than that Shuriken, also.

Wouldnt running at 16.8v when im not playing music thought fry my other electronics? HU, ect... and also that alternator idles at 70.

Im starting to wonder at this point if I should have just keep My old and an subs. Obviously this vehicle does not like power. I need to do something fast thought. Amp is being shipped tomorrow at 3 and subs coming soon too.
