Is it true that when you double the power you get 3dB increase? (just heard it from somewhere)

...because it's louder then a 140.6 easily at 900 watts, and it will be at 2400 or so tomorrow...

ya general rule is double the power yeilds a 3db increase. But there are alot of variables
