Will an Orion 8002 take a .5ohm load...?

It will for about 20 minutes before it starts throwing fits.

I just put in my 2 12" Rl-ps, and went driving for about 20 minutes until the subs started cutting in and out. I stopped, felt the amp, and if I would have had some bacon with me, I could have cooked some.

I threw the DMM on the terminals on the box and it read .5ohms. (The 8002 is 2-ohm stable.) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

After quick re-wire, everything is fine. I was surprised the amp didn't go into protect in the minute or so.

Yeah, but it sounded like I was clipping the hell out of it after about 20-25 minutes.At first I just thought it was louder because I went from a single driver to a dual driver set-up.

I've been running it at 2ohm mono for about a year, it rarely even gets warm.

It's funny you mention that though, I just assumed it was 2-ohm stable (mono) since I've had it. I don't think it'll give me any problems though.

Well, it was on accident. I had a brain fart while wiring my subs.

I bought min on eBay about a year ago for ~$190, and I haven't had a problem with it.
