The Local Alt. Shop Here In Chicago Told Me My Cars Computer Wont Let A H/o Alternator Over 180 Amps Work In My 2004 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 With Burning Up My Cars Computer. Someone Please Help

Won't burn up the computer. Voltage is voltage. A higher output alt puts out more current not more voltage. The ECU is not affected by or current available to the rest of the car.

Now, that said it is entirely possible that no one makes an alt bigger than 180A that is capable of being controlled by the ECU in your truck, but based on the type of vehicle I find that hard to believe. I know that no one made an aftermarket alt for my last car at all, no one.

What are you running that you think you need more than 180A continuous current?
