Wii or PS3?

Before anyone says anything, i did a search, but most of the threads i found are in the classifieds section and dont do any comparisons.

The reaon its just these choices and not the 360 is one of my roomates already has a 360, so theres no point in me getting another one, at least not right now.

I want to know which one is more fun to play overall. I have barely played either of them, so I am looking for opinions. Basd on my experience with them, I am leaning toward the Wii. But which do you consider to be a better buy, based on value, fun of playing, and games available for each?

the Wii is a much better buy. The PS3 is overpriced, some still have bugs and they dont have a whole lot of cool games for it yet. The Wii is fun, the interactive golf game is a blast, and you can get some of the old favorites on it like Mario Kart and such

I wanted the ps3 just so I could get the next gen games that weren't coming to the 360, that and I had to give the kids the ps2 the day before GOW 2 came out.

you try looking on a gaming forum?
I'm no gamer and don't own a console, but the Wii is what I'd buy for my kids.
No i havent tried one, i dont really want to join another forum, and i figured there is enough members here that someone has to have some input.

The wii is a lot of fun, especially if there are a lot of people to play along with. Plus liked stated earlier it has support to play older games. plus the game it comes with is actually fun.

I own the PS3. Love it. My son has been bugging me for a Wii. I may do it, dont know yet. I am a bit leary of him horsin around in front of my new TV.

THe PS3 is a very powerfull machine, it is capable of doing a lot and it will only get better in time. Although game selection may be an issue, I feel the Wii is geared for younger audiences. Just my oppinion.

maybe so, but to get reviews of guy that are REALLY into them, go look on gamers' boards, or CNET or somewhere also.

Even if the graphics aren't the best, the Wii is the only gaming console that you actually get to 'play.' Bring on the sports injuries!!!!

I've been looking for a PS3 fro a decent price since I have the Wii and 360. I have to say besides GOW for 360, my Wii gets the most play. Go for the Wii until the PS3 price drops a little.

well...it'll be a while before the ps3 prices go down..i have a wii and i love it...i want to get a ps3 also though...the wii is a fun system, but i still love my racing games (Gran Tourismo), and what not...so i just gotta have both

it really depends on what you are wanting. I own so I can give you a justified review I guess. The Wii is a ton of fun. Wii sports is addicting and when you have been drinking, its good times. The game selection is not much better though overall than the ps3, people lose sight of that. Zelda is awesome, if you like Zelda games. Beyond that, I have yet to find anything I liked, and I've played most games. I like Metal Slug I guess.

Just the new way to play games makes it enjoyable.

The Ps3 is a different beast. If you have a HD TV, then its awesome, if not, you won't enjoy it to its fullest extent and is probably over-priced for what you will use. The Blu-Ray player built in is why I got one. I watch movies on it almost daily. The games are pretty decent. Resistence was great. Madden, is well, Madden. Virtua Fighter is fun, but most of the games on it have been done before, they just look better now.

So, depending on what you want it for, thats how you should decide. The PS3 is the more traditional of the two. It has better graphics, more power and over the long run, will probably prove it will be superior. With that said, the Wii is great fun, but not in a traditional sense. Its fun because you are doing something you have never done before.

If you don't have HD, id go with the Wii, if you do, then make your choice based on what you want to do with it.

Lastly, despite what people said about having buggy ps3's, ive had mine since launch and the only issue I had was fixed with a patch and was a blu-ray movie issue. Other than that, no problems.

I've played both and ended up buying a Wii.

If I were to only play alone, I'd probably get a PS3 because like the PS / PS2 you'll probably get a lot of single player games and you can slow down to enjoy the next generation graphics.

If you're always playing with others, got new people around, stuff like that, the Wii wins hands down. I love handing the WiiMote to people and when they ask "Okay how do I swing?" (baseball) I reply "Swing the controller like it was a bat".

Also, just a personal note - all the girls I play with LOVE to get into the games. Seeing two top hotties hopping around playing tennis is a beautiful thing if catch my drift. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I called the store and they said they had 2 left, but i get there, about 10 minutes later, and i see the lady walking out with the last one...that pisses me off...why arent they making more of these things?
