wife brought home her new car and its loaded

Hey guys the wife went and picked up her car its a 2000 civic dx, 27,000 miles not bad looks real nice then she says look at the trunk, I open the trunk and i has a fibergalss enclosure with 2 12" dls ultimate subs, 3 dls amps 2a5's and a a3 i would assume its running active? she also has an alpine 9885 with a h701i think thats what it was im at work and have all the numbers at home, and also a c701 digital eq .
how much would all this equpiment be worth?

she paid 4,500 for the car
The c701 is simply the controller for the h701.

can i borrow your wife to find me a car like that

nice find!!!

9855 is a fine deck, i also had the -9853 and it was a great deck but ya, really would have liked the 4V.

im just curious why someone would spend all the money on a car and leave it in there. WTF?

none at all
Then why did you hate the 2v pre-out? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I know we all love having tons of signal voltage, Ive fallen into this trap before too. But truth be told if you ever *require* more than a 2v signal, something else is wrong and needs to be addressed.

i just hate having to turn the gain up more than halfway. Hell, i could just have lead ear and didn't hear any noise coming through //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The gains are nothing more than input sensitivity adjustments. An amplifier should work virtually identical no matter the gain position its set to, so long as the gain is adjusted according to the input signal strength. In other words, if you experience no induced noise running a 2v deck and have your gains set properly, you will experience no performance gain (or loss) by changing it out for a 4v deck and re-adjusting your gains lower.
Don't get caught in the trap of thinking a gain is a volume knob that should always be kept as low as possible to reduce distortion. There is an optimal gain setting for your h/u's signal output potential, anything above that will cause clipping, and anything below will limit output artificially. Limiting output via the gains may be desireable (headroom), but that's another discussion.

Cheers.
