Hey all, need some input or advice. I dont know what to do. I was installing an amp today in my truck and everything was going smoothly. I ran the power cable to the back, and grounded it on an existing bolt that holds the seats down. Now for one reason or another, I couldnt get the system to work properly due to some really crappy speaker terminals I got from radio shack. Though thats not the biggest issue. Now when I get in the truck and I drive it, or accelerate rather, I hear a loud whine. Almost like a CV radio or something. It does it when I accelerate. I was unsure if it was the electrical system or not, and when I first put the truck in to drive, the factory sub now hits on its own like 5 times. When I took all the wires out of my amp, the ground and the battery wire connected and it sparked during the install. I seperated them immediately, but it still happened. Right now I disconnected the power wire that connects to the battery, all I have is power wire connected to nothing running through the truck next to the RCAs and the Remote Wire. The ground is still grounded, but also not connected to anything. What could be causing this sound? Did i ground out my electrical system somehow, would that have anything to do with it? It only does it when I accelerate so Im really unsure and afraid of what I did. Thanks to anyone who can give me some input.
Edit: Well after reading up it seems this sort of thing common, and I ran my RCAs close to the power wire. However, the power wire is not connected anymore, the ground wire is gone, and the only things that are still connected are the RCAs and the remote wire that are running the full length of the truck next to the power wire, but since its not connected then shouldnt there be no problem? I still get a whine, or maybe the RCAs are picking up another signal somewhere? Argh.
