wierd thumping from subs.

a few months ago i installed a system in my friends audi. its worked great all untill now.

during the song, and in between the songs there is a pulsating thumping from the subs. the volume doesnt change the loudness of the pulsating, and it occurs even when the volume is on 0. it almost sounds like a heart beat.

any clue what this could be?

bad connection somewhere... check to make sure your ground hasen't stripped somewhere... basically, check allllllllllllll of your wires where they could be broken..

sounds like a bad connection.

happened to my home sub once, just kept pulsating out of nowhere and pissed the hell outta me. had to return it cuz we never found the loose connection.

I just had a problem just like this with my friends system. His ground spot was not properly sanded, and the screw was not pushing the terminal all the way down to bare metal. The ground cable was also corroded a good ways down, even inside the insulation; though I dont know if that matters much.

Check your connections, grounds, and look for any exposed wire touching bare metal.

good point. ill tell him to go buy some new stuff. why didnt i think of that.

to the rest of you. thanks for the help, ill tell him to check his wires. after school today i looked at the wires near the amps, and they looked fine. ill tell him to check his ground spot
