Why would you want 2 channels to 2 subs? eD question

Hi, sorry, I'm new to this, so I don't know if this is a dumb question or not. I'm looking at getting a bridgable 2 channel amp, because for some reason they're cheaper per amp than mono amps. I want to power two 10s or 12s (Elemental Design K series, specifically), and I'm just wondering if there was a reason not to just get the bridgeable amp.

Also, am I wrong about bridgable amps being cheaper than mono amps? Are mono amps any better in any way than bridgable ones?

And finally, is the eD K 10" series as good as I keep reading? Their site isn't very specific, but I like the design and what I keep hearing. Any other subs that you would suggest for the $130 range? Anyone know how much better it'd be if I just sprung for the O series eD's? I really couldn't jump up to the A series, but again, what would be the difference?

2 channels are more expensive than monos.Ed K is a great sub. the O will handle more power/sound better. The A is even better performance. Just depends how loud u want it to get and how much money u have and how much power u want to run

Alright, I'm looking at BestBuy.com (because I have gift certificates there), and I'm seeing that mono amps with 300watt RMS at 4 ohms cost in the $199 (RF Punch series), but 2-channel amps that'll give you 460watts RMS at 4ohms when bridged are the same price. The mono amps have much larger max power outputs listed, but I was under the impression that this number didn't really matter. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the input about the subs though. I'm really glad that I found that company (from this site, actually).

edit: also, more of the mono amps are "1 ohm stable," so should I go with a 1 ohm config with the two subs? This seems to allow more continuous power, but still not as much as the 2-channel amps for the price.

2 channel amps are usualli 4 Ohm stable in briged mode but mono amps are 2 or 1 Ohm stable, and they put out a lot more power than 2 or 4 channel amps.

For example: JBL BP1200.1 it costs around 280.- and its 600W @4 Ohm and 1200W @2 Ohm... show me any 2 or 4 channel amp what puts out that much of power? and for that money.

ur subs will only be able to be wired certain ways. If the amp is 1 ohm stable it will be fine. it will make no audible difference. As far as what u said on the 2 amps. U said the mono amp does 300 wattts rms at 4 ohms. But what does that amp do at 2 ohms or 1 ohm.

heh yeah. and its 1 ohm stable. puts out same power at 1 and 2 ohms.

oh yeah and best buy sucks. If i was u id buy something cheap from there and try to get cash back. Buy like some 5 dollar fuses or something lol.

You getting it all wrong... you say that in bestby.com there is a mono amp 300W @ 4ohm and 2 channel amp 460W @ 4 Ohm... but... the 2 channel amp cant give any more, thats max continius output power but the mono amp is 300W @ 4 Ohm and i think @ 2 Ohm it is 600W (example: audiboahn has a amp what is 300W @ 4 Ohm; 600W @ 2 Ohm and 1200W @ 1 Ohm)

Thats whay are mono amps better, the put out lot more power @ low Ohm-s, A/B class amps can not.

Don't ever look at these max power number... they tell you nothing... RMS is what matters (continius output power).
