Why would tweets play ALOT of static, never got htem to sound right

Call me a component noob I suppose. But I have NEVER heard a good set of aftermarket tweeters. In my car, I installed 2 sets of pg rsd 6.5's and the tweeters never sounded good. They always played static, and sounded like poo.

The wires were run perfect from the crossover and polarity checked and double checked. And today my buddy calls me up cause he installed his CDT 6.5's, and his tweets sounded like arse to.

Is there anything special to it that Im not getting here. Like Ive got a Premier 860mp deck, so Ive got 12 bands of tuning

Cause Id like to buy a nice set of components that get extremely loud and hit the highs, and Im going to want the tweets to sound nice.

Any suggestions

Just static, like crappy sounding speaker static, barely playing music, got *pitch* loud, but were playing static, sounded like headphones to me

I did check wiring, I pulled it all back out and ran it temp over the seats PERFECT, there no way to screw up the perfectly labelled crossovers and polarities, and I even switched them to check. I gave up a few months ago and disconnected the tweets, mids sound good though

also, try wiring them out of phase. Also what crossover are you using? It may not be well matched to the freqs of the tweeters. Lastly, what power are you giving them?

Having the same problem, these are my first set of components so I thought thats how they were supposed to be.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

You mine if i kinda jump in on this thread??

same problem here.

im using crappy as heck hifonics 6.5 component set tho.

the mids in the doors do work ok enough, but the crossovers and the tweets

are junk.

tweets sound like they are playing "noise" all the time music is playing.

not alternator wine. I had that problem before and fixed it.

they just sound un clear.

I give up on them. ( crappy components that is )

and im just going to stick a set of 6by9's in the doors.

right now my kicker ds 6930 in the rear are way over powering my components up front

and both are powered off my kicker 350by4ch. equaly.

o well.

maby ill try and set them up in the computer room. ( crappy hifonics component set )

i may know what your talkin about.does it happen at high volume only?

i did the +2dB on the crossover and i dont get that problem, and things sound/play better.
What exactly does that switch do? Mine has +3/0/-3

you do understand the point of tweeters right? like maybe you are expecting to much from them?
What do you mean expecting by too much? I didnt expect them to be staticy

also, try wiring them out of phase. Also what crossover are you using? It may not be well matched to the freqs of the tweeters. Lastly, what power are you giving them?
Tried out of phase

Using the supplied Pheonix gold crossovers

Run off the amp, rated @ 70 X 4, gains set about 2/3 (tuned to sound good no distortion from mids)

ANd no Im not expecting TO MUCH from tweeters, I know they only play highs, high pitched whatever youd like to call it. These dont sound "clear", nothing clear about them at all

Im just going to be buying another set of components possibly, and hoping for better results.
