got a question about motors. why do they have a pole in the center of the motor. why not have a hole goin all the way thru the magnet. how does a motor benefit of off having a pole in the center?

i have thought about that too i tried goofin off with a lil 6.5 the other day but idk how to make the coil a certain ohm and i dont have small spiders and such. but for a sub like that only have to worry about the soft parts ripping or such.

It has something to do with magnetic flux and it won't be right without it, but I'm not Magneto so I have no idea how to explain it.

The pole, also known as the T-yoke, creates the return path for the magnetic flux. Without it, you'd have an awfully inefficient permanent magnetic field for the coil's electro-magnetic field to work with.

The vent through the pole is simply a means to offer a certain degree of cooling, but it can also relieve the compression built-up inside the motor structure under heavy excursion. This can also affect the Q of the driver, both mechanically and electrically.
