I use to run the Resolution Series a while back (from the mid to late 90's), the ones with the ND25 silk dome tweeters. Those, I thought sounded nice. As for now.....I agree that for the price, there are better offerings out there.

I used to run Kicker Ks 6's (there upper line model's) and they sounded great, got LOUD, and had decent midbass for not being deadened,

i first had it paired with a kicker 75.2 or 100.2 whatever there smaller amp is... it sounded ok, then i decided to up the wattage to a T500.2 for about 250ish rms per speaker and they took it great! they screamed they got **** loud, this was of course for a few months until one midbass went out then i packed them up and replaced them with my current components

cant go wrong with kicker speakers! (this is of course if you get them for a **** good deal, i would personally go with the DD comp's or pair up some M6 midbass's with some nice tweets)

You are correct. Stillwater Designs located in Stillwater, Oklahoma aka Oklahoma State University. Use to pass by their warehouse all the time

Kicker SS Components and the refurb amps are good for the money at the prices they are going for on ebay. I think a lot of the stuff is made in China... but so are most other products these days.
