Why not biscuits?

SO i have been out of car audio for a while. Decided to build a single 12" slot ported box for my beater but anyways... I was grabbin my router so I could round the corners on my port and edges and it had the biscuit joiner setup on it. I usaully use wood glue, air nailer, lots of clamps and silicone but would this be easier. I mean cut the slots, put in buiscuits, glue and just pound with a hammer. And also it would be at a perfect 90* anyways. No worrying about that. I know it would be strong enough. Why doesnt anyone do this? I am gonna try next box around.

You could definitly use a biscuit joiner. Nice strong joints.

Its amazing on how stong standard wood glue alone is.

I constructed a temp box for 2 tens out of MDF. I some wood glue and sheetrock screws to fasten the joints. Two weeks later when i no longer needed the box, i wanted to disasemble it. Took all the screws out, an i figured that i could just snap all the glue joints. LOL, nope. That wasnt happening. I had to 2# rubber mallet the box apart. And still the joints did not seperate, the MDF around the joints broke first.

personally, i feel it would be too much of a hassle, and how do u use a router to do buscuit joints.

its like this http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=060410351&r=2117&g=115 and no its not a hassle, just measure and mark, it takes like a second to do 1 cut. I bet you could measure and do all the joints of a box in 5 minutes. Then the busicuit/cuts hold it at a perfect right angle too.

well the buiscuits swell too with glue. Yea i proved that to my buddy, had a box for 2 12's built. I took all the screws out and let him jump on it. He weighs 250#'s, it didnt budge. Screws/nails just hold the wood while the glue dries. The strength is the glue
