Why my AVI 5.25's have more midbass than my Boston SPZ 5.25's?

I have some AVI MXD 130 (I am pretty sure that is the model) in my kick panels and the midbass they generate is actually pretty astounding for such a small driver installed in a kick. I also have some Boston SPZ 5.25's that don't sound nearly as impressive. The Xmax on the AVI is 1.5 mm and the Xmax on the bostons is like 11mm or so of one way linear. I always thought the more travel, the more bass or midbass the driver puts out. Both drivers were running of a single channel of a RF Power 400-4. How much impact does Xmax really have on bass output? The Bostons are 3 ohms and the AVI are 4 ohm so there is a bit of power fluctuation in the amp depending on the driver, but the bostons are bit more power hungry anyway.

Just curious.
