Arizona inmate dies while in custody in Buckeye prison

An inmate died Wednesday while in the custody at a Buckeye prison, the Arizona Department of Corrections said.

Ronald Richie, 42, was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and kidnapping and was being held at the Buckley Unit of the Arizona State Prison Complex-Lewis in Buckeye, authorities said.

Richie had been living in the Arizona prison system since Dec. 1, 1994.

No further information about his death was immediately available.
