Why is this Happening?

I have 2 12 inch audioque sdc's powered by a kenwood Kac-7205. ( only 250 watts rms till i get my new amp). They always cut off and stop playing. About 20 seconds later the bass will come on again. Now when this happens the amp is very hot like you cant leave you hand on it cuz its so hot. However its still on. I have 6 gauge power wire and 8 gauge ground. The amp only puts out 250 watts rms tho so that isnt the problem. It happens a lot too. Like i cant get through the whole late night tip song without the bass cutting in and out towards the end. Is it just the amp overheating or what?

first of all when you have an amp connected you want to run the same size guage even if its only 50 watts. the amp is probably seeing power issues. the next thing u should check are your gains. iv had this happen to me alot of times.also when they cut off check that it doesnt enter protect mode

what is ur final load on that amp?
idk what that means. The subs are dual 4's wired parelled to 2 ohm

its junk my friends does it also
its definatly not junk. I may not have top notch stuff like some users but its not junk.

turn your gain down, make sure your wired to a stable ohm load, and make sure the amp can breathe. It's going thermal and protecting.
gain is set like half way up, bass boost is off, amp specs say it does 250 rms at 2 ohms so idk what it is

ok then each channel is seeing a 2 ohm load, which should be fine then. what are your gains at on the amp and what head unit?
Well i have the gain set about half way up. The LPF is all the way down. sony xplod head unit not sure what the model number is tho.

Suspect list;

1. Ground -Needs to be shiny, robust, metal part of car

2. Power -Make sure the connections at both ends are secure and the battery connection point isn't corroded. Also verify that the voltage at the amp isn't dropping below 12 volts while it's playing. (DMM) Make sure your 6 gauge cable can handle the 50-60 amp current draw. Is it CCA or OFC?

3. ventilation -make sure there's plenty of space around the amp. Also make sure both cooling fans and air passages are clear.
