Why is my dog so afraid of fireworks?

Maybe your dog is a survivor of one of the great world wars?

and it brings back horrible traumatic memories of bombs going off around him/her?

or maybe your dog is just a ****** and doesn't like loud noises.. is it also afraid of thunder?

I use to have a dog (alaskan husky/german shepard mix) that would go after lit fireworks. She ate more than a couple while they were going off in her life. Took down a shooting ground bloom flower once. Great dog, but when it came to fireworks, she went nuts.

my friend down the street has a toy chihuahua named peaches, big loud booms from legit fireworks dont scare it but when kids are lighting off m80's and bottle rockets in the street she shakes like crazy and wimpers.
