befor i had one sub one 1 channel. the sub could handle 200rms and the amp put out 150x2

now i have a new sub that can handle 400rms and the amp bridged at 460x1

the problem is wile im driving the amp will just cut out. the light will turn off and there will be no sound. i checked all connections. everything seems good. weird thing is it started when i turned the bassboost off. any help would be great.

Is the amp getting hot? Where is it grounded to, what size wiring are you using? Anytime it goes out, check the RCA voltage on the head unit to see if it's not the RCAs going out.

how do i check RCA's and im useing 4 gauge wire and its grounded to a hole in the side of the trunk. used a wire wheel on a drill the take off the paint and then sanded smooth. fan turns on and it amp isent hot if i toutch it. it could be my RCA's i just hope its isent becasue its such a ***** to run them.

Use a digital multimeter. And set it to check voltage (either 12V or 9V will work, mine has a 9V setting that's what I use.). It could also be your remote wire, make sure you check that. Kind odd that you had it working fine then changing subs screws it up. How do you get the amp to turn back on?

it will just turn back on at random and turn off at random. so my music will sound all weird. i checked my remote line and my RCA's this morrning. they are fine. but my amp will still just turn off wile its playing.

ok so my RCA's are fine becasue i tryed 2 other sets and it dident make a diffrence. im guessing its my remote line. becasue the amp dosent go into protect it just turns off.

well if the amp light is off it is not the rca's

if the amp is off verify voltage on the remote line. if there is 12v on the remote line, and the batt input verify ground.

most amps have a protection LED or dual color on led. yours does not if I read the manual correct. it did not say anthing about a dual color led or anything. so it could be going into protection mode. If it is going into protection mode that usually means one of two things:

overtemprature or overcurrent (ie wrong impedance presented)

you said the sub was wired for 4ohms? single coil? dual 2ohm? if it is dual 2 ohm make user you coil series is done correctly. some people mix this up.

i got a new amp crunch 1500.1 amp. idk if its a shitty brand or not but it was free my friend had it laying around and i thought mine might be ****ed so i swaped it out to see if that was the problem. that amp have a protect and normal light. and well the protect light dosent come on the amp its self just turns off. so im more and more thinking its a remote/power/ or ground problem.

i just had this problem today..my bass would just shut off if i cranked volume past 28, i checked everything 3 times..ended up being my remote wire. i tested it with a jumper from battery connection @amp to remote connection @ amp..worked like it was supposed to, so i run a new remote wire..works great now

I had the same problem....Although my amp would not come back on until I either restarted the truck or turned the HU off then back on. Turns out the remote from the HU is bad...Had to run a r wire in with one of my fuses and it started working fine. Now I got another problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

My buddies started doing that this last week. And, its a KenWood mono amp also(newer one). I checked everything under the sun I could think of. Then we ended up putting it in my car and it did the same thing. I think something in the amp is loose or has gone bad. The power light will turn on/off at random and sometimes depending on the volume. Weird....
