My main reason is money. Not much to be done to address that. Materials cost, and you have to put out the money to get the good stuff.
I'm currently in a budget hole here, where I'm debating about whether going to moderately cheap dedicated midbasses or one small subwoofer, since I already have a 4 chan budget hifonics amp I could bridge the second two channels of. Not much of a system that can compete. I'm looking at a friend who has dozens of amps, good ones, and might sell them to me cheaply - but that's still a pretty penny, when you add in the subs needed.
Second reason I see is that there isn't many shows in the KC area. I'd be more proactive in getting some started, but I figure it would be a bit odd to do that when you are running a bass system off of hifonics and midbass drivers.
