All very good points. For those that say there aren't shows near them, get on your local shop to have a show. I know for Usaci the director for MN, WI, MI, IL is reasonable on his pricing for shows. Have all your friends go in on separate days and ask about shows. Get as many people to express interest and support your local shops as much as possible also. With so many people shopping on the internet shops aren't making the money they used to or having customers support them. If you aren't supporting them why would they have shows for you? It is two sided so don't forget your locals shops. They support the sport, support them as well.

SPL competition doesn't appeal to me because my idea of car audio is that it should play music. I'm not a fan of the current SQ series are based entirely on judges perception and "measurements" are taken with the judges ears. Not exactly objective or repeatable. Two things that I think are essential to valid competition.

Jest don't feel the need to do it and impress others anymore. I did it in my hayday, but that is there and gone and I guess I may get back into it one day, but I don't have the time to really get involved in it. If I did it again, would just go to say I went and to check out some other cool setups.

My favorite part about competing was meeting different people from all walks of life and just shooting the shit. Hell, I can do that on here really.

Also the older I get the less I care about SPL. And SQ is uber expensive to do well in. So meh, I do it for me...........which speaking of, I have no audioz right now for the first time in some years.

I have something planned out for the new year though.

Also there are way to many rules IMO anymore, which took the fun out of it.

Im thinking of getting out of comp. just for the fact that im getting tired of going up against shop cars and people that are sponsored. Not realy fair for my 3k watt daily driver to go against 50K+ of trailor queen.

If thats happening, then the organization you're competing in isnt structured very well.

Cause I haven't finished the build //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Its really a loud daily but want it to do well on a TL.

Things to do:

Add last pair of speakers + front door midbass

Add batts

Spin subs around and seal into the cabin

Get a 5+kw amp

Seal off rear deck

hammer/ grind out the metal lip around the hole going into my trunk

EXTENSIVE deadening

seal trunk vents

pkay with different box designs/ tuning freqs

Remove passenger seat?

It takes about $500 to do a 2x event (which covers judge pay & trophies, typically)
really hmmmm anyone interested in a show in cincinnati ohio??????

hell ive never really heard of any shows around me and up until here recently i just bout whatever was at the store on sale but now i really wanna get a nice system i wouldnt mind getting into competting

I have to drive 5+ hrs to get to any sort of stereo competition. Plus everybody here has Kickers, Pioneers, Alpines, etc. I've even heard from my best friend, he'd mix different sizes of subs and brands, he doesn't care, as long as they make noise. Its so mainstream its like lego blocks..

Cinci would be cool. That's pretty close to me. There are MECA shows in Columbus.

For those of you that like to play music or have loud street beaters should try MECA Drive-By. It is a 30 second average class metered 6 feet outside of the vehicle.
