Check the MECA calender for shows in your area. We'll be adding more as the year goes on.

Its going to be hard to drive my Jeep to that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

my stereo is for me. . . i never built it with any intentions of being louder then anyone else on the street.

another thing i dont understand is entry fees. at least, with local events, why should we get charged to compete??? Shouldnt it be free??? I mean, they wouldnt have a show to put on if people wasnt competing. Clubs dont have dance contests and try to charge the dancers anything to enter the competition. Not smaller venues anyway

never made sence why people get through the gate for free, but people competing have to fork out 20-30.00. screw that

my first show was last season for spl comps. Broke a 148 on burp.... i didnt know i was that loud... that was with just 2 12" subs faced and ported back... essentially i was hooked at that....
It would take something like that to really get me motivated. I'm like the least loudest in my group. When I was hitting 139 something I just started thinking about how I was gonna have to redo my whole setup to be in the 140s. Plus it's a trunk car, but I can let the back seat down.

I need to drive to snoop's house to get my truck loud.
My GF stays out near TommyK now, so I can come by and steal all of his secrets. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

If you want to do more than burps, it might //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. dont get me wrong, the scores you have posted up are great i mean i wouldnt come near to those numbers because i dont have the knowledge and the "trial and error" that one learns along the way. but 150+db for 30seconds or more and staying above 12volts the whole time takes a little bit of money. i only have about $1500-$2000 total in actual "equipment" though, so its much less expensive than other hobbies.
but in all reality, the more skilled you are the less equipment you need cause you can design the whole layout of the box/tuning/car differently than a n00b. Im still learnin, but its fun have a loud daily that still beats some "competition" (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif) systems that I've went up against.
1500-2000 i could be competitive as long as you got the right car. but then again i'm not one to think you gotta buy the most exspensive stuff to get loud.

I see a lot of excuses but anyone can BassRace. You don't need to spend a lot of money and you don't have to be insanely loud. My bro BassRaces the 129.9 class with some $20 Lightning Audio 15s.

You're paying for an EVENT. Otherwise, you'd be out there in the parking lot with a bunch of yahoo's - completelly unorganized, without rules, and no meter.

It costs to have a place to have an Event. IE : Renting out a park

It costs to have MECA certified judges, and the paperwork processing/tracking.

It costs to have trophies made up for every single class, including PHAT awards.

Comparing a sound competition to a night club is quite asinine.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I am hoping the data I'm collecting will help to create a class that fits the people who don't think their set ups are competition worthy and hopefully we can get more shops to host shows in the future. Keep them coming, this has very informative to say the least.

not enough shows in my area //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

most of the small comps i hear about are closer to southern CA than northern Cali.

I feel the same way. I don't have the time, money, or desire to compete. if I do something nice in my car I do it for me. Not to impress others.

well that should give you a reason to compete, to show them how your score is better with half the "wattz" dey gotz. I seen too many people this last bassrace come up there with 2 18"s walled, 4 15"s AND 2 12"s in same box (audipipes and L7's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif), 6 12"s walled, all barely break 130 srsly. it was funnay
lol ive seen people with "good systems" around here and my "audioque" subs demolish them. i had a guy who works at the rockford shop hear mine and he was like "HOLY **** thats loud only 1 kw!?!?" lmao. i love meca tho, the headrest style is the best way to meter IMO.

I don't think to many at comps are there to impress others. A lot of them are like me and it's just a sport/hobby. You try and get a little better each time and if you don't get a a first but gained a few tenths since the last one it was a success.

It's more about messing with the amp's, subs, building boxes, Studying to learn a new trick that will get you closer to a goal etc.
