Why don't competitors use pro audio subs?

Seems like it'd be the way to go, yet you never see it. High sensitivity, good power handling, low qts, high ebp value, etc...just seems like they're made to work great as spl subs...thoughts?

motor size is pretty low so bl will be lower, their suspension also isnt nearly as tight, both of which are key factors in good spl woof's

They both seem like 40-200 woofers, meant for house cabinets

There are a ton of car audio subs that fit the same desciption...doesn't mean they're not good.

Power handling and efficiency are trade offs, the qualities of high power handling are often ones that take away efficiency. That sub has 99db/watt efficiency, i'm sure your subs don't have a rating nearly as high.

Of course, this isn't an iron-clad rule, but high efficiency AND high power rating will probably mean high price tag.

I ran a 21" Autotek sub that looks very similar to pro audio subs, and I had pretty good luck with it. First box I built for it helped me break 150 for the first time, with just a sundown 1500 for power.

It had high power handling(~2kw) and efficiency around 95db 1w/1m. I was trying to find another so I could wall my truck, but it's kinda hard finding two subs when there were only 50 made.

Anywho, my point is that I had good luck with a "pro audio-esque" sub.

for hitting high numbers.

take that pro audio midwoofer, and send it however much power it can take on a burp.

now take a lets say, DD 95g, and send it 4k plus on a burp.

and see which one hits a higher number.

the sub every time.

Find a sub around the same price and make that same comparison. Up the price to 600-800 like the 9500 series and I can find pro audio woofers with 6" voice coils that are rated to handle around 2kw.

but why not spend that same amount of money on a 4" coiled top of the line sub.

i just think that if this were the case someone would have already tried it thus being noone uses them?

All you did was describe the situation. You gave absolutely no reason as to why. You need to learn more before you start your own line of audio products, no offense.

Hoffmans Iron Law plays a major role in sub choice for SPL. As does cooling capability, fs, Qtc to a lesser degree. Simply put, most serious competitors use subs specifically designed for the sport. You cant expect generic pro audio woofers to work better than a sub made for SPL competition.
