Why don't competitors use pro audio subs?

Seems like with a fs below 50hz and a good amount of xmax, they're more than capable to burp a 60-something tone.
Ive heard both of them. They are voice speakers, not subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

What kind of application did you try them in? I highly doubt it was in a high tuned ported box. If you used them in a sealed box, then it's kinda hard to make a generalization about what they can do, especially sinced they would excell in a ported box.

Not saying they're subs. I'm saying that, assuming the t/s are correct, they should have no issues burping a tone that is practically considered midbass. The fact that they can produce some vocals as well doesn't really matter in this case, as we're merely discussing it's ability to burp a tone for a second or two.

Suspension is too soft and it wont take the power that a regular car audio sub will.
But it doesnt need to be over-powered with the efficiency that it has and thats the point he is asking about. You could give that sub RMS and get very loud because its efficient. Whether or not it would be a good SPL sub is beyond me.

There are other pro audio drivers, nice ones, that actually can take some power and have a good sized motor on them...I just linked to some cheaper examples that were easy to find.

As for the lack of power handling, which is less of an issue with bigger and more expensive pro units, the efficiency of the driver more than makes up for it in most cases.

As for the spiders, I'm sure a higher quality driver that has more sub-like qualities will have a stiffer suspensiuon.

Ive heard those very speakers you posted. They are great for midrange, but will not work as a sub. If you put them in a box they will do drop to around 80hz and do decent bass for something like a pro audio nightclub or DJ setup, but they just dont work as subs.

Theres alot more to it than the efficiency rating.

those are HT not CAx max of 6.5 and 7.5 mm ??
Actually, they'd be Pro Audio speakers, but that's just nitpicking.

Also, Xmax is LINEAR travel, almost never is that the limits of a speaker's suspension/motor system. Not only that, but if you were to use this speaker in a one note wonder type application, you'd probably be playing a frequency right around the tuning frequency of the enclosure, which also happens to be where excursion is at its lowest point. Which means 6.5mm of linear excursion isn't really important because I doubt you'll see much movement anyway.

Anything 120VAC automatically must be for home theater, you don't know that? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm not so sure about mid-to-upper midrange, all the times I've heard them run too high they get beamy as all hell. Below 800Hz with a stout horn for the midrange seems to be where they're happiest.

idk I was in prana the other night fourth floor and you could feel the fucking air moving in the whole room.. it was LOUD
Yea that place gets annoyingly loud sometimes.

I'm just curious if those who say PA drivers will not work in car audio have ever tested this? Not the two drivers listed specifically, but any of them? My guess is no, so STFU already. If you have tested them, I'd like to see some results. Though, I'm thinking that wont happen.
