Why does sony have such a bad rep

I am trying to figure out why people rip on sony products on this forum so much?Is it he said she said crap or have this many people really had that many problems with them.I think it is kinda funny because I have been using sony products for over 15 years and dont think I have ever had a problem with anything.However people on here rave about pioneer and I have personally watched 3 of them smoke inside my dash(10+ yrs ago)Now before all the crap hits the fan I still have a pioneer hu that is about 8 years old and it works great.Also I have not used any of the sony xplode amps or subs.but their old amps use to wang

Your running good sony equipment. Xplod is where the fell off. Pioneer seems to have released a good solid product for the past 4-5 years.

Haha, that's just ghetto. I remember seeing people do shit like that when I was younger and I didn't get it. Then I would go home and throw on my MC Hammer pants and head down to the skating rink.....

i had a whole sony system at one point... and this has been my expierence...

sony HU

sony 4 channel amp

sony 2 channel amp for subs

sony three way coxial (front)

sony two way rear

sony two 10 inch subs...

the HU wasn't bad - i was actually kinda happy with it until someone stole just the faceplate - and replace it with an alpine - the sony has more features but the alpine has better flat line SQ by far - the sony felt kinda far away...

basically a person in this post said it best - it struggles to get loud and has no SQ... the bass from the speakers (not including subs get to that in a min) is horrible - no mids and even the highs arent great...

i replaced the speakers with memphis audio very shortly after and i am happy with them for now...

i still have the two amps and subs... the subs and the sony amp i have powering them are defently over rated but for the money they can can get loud - granted they dont have great SQ and im gonna replace them eventually.. but they have taking a pounding over the past couple years and still work with no problem..

the interior amp - im just about to replace - i wasn't really happy with it and wish i just spent my money better the first time... its ok i guess.... but thats not saying much...

if your going from a paper cone stock system to a sony system then at first you'll like it - but after about a couple months - you're gonna regret it...

well i tried one of thier pentagon subs in a 1 cube sealed box, it got okay loud, but it sounded very very bad

Well, I finally got my 10" XPlods workin right myself. Ive got them hooked up to an Extreme amp so I have a feeling thas the saving grace to my setup. They sure are loud as hell, but...they sound disgusting. And I have them in a sealed right now. Im thinking about building a ported just to see how bad it gets. But they are none the less fairly good boom for the money, in my opinion. But if I got to pick my subs next time (got these for practically free), I wouldnt even think about sony.

Haha. I had a pair that were black and had blue, green, yellow, and pink neon stripes down them. Real wide at the top and tapered down to hug my ankles. Those things were so awesome. My cousin with a mullet gave them to me.

They put all their money into the home video and audio as well as the pro video ( really good)The car audio stuff is just crap because they have poor R&D for it.

not at all true they dropped car audio down on purpose because when they made awesome stuff they lost money. like my c-90 xdp 4000 combo i almost traded it for a few things and cash but whatever i was getting in return was a large drop off from that combo (eclipse 5000 and even a pioneer prs 880) their select series i would say probably sounds as good as those other units and they are also making a new "alpine killer" that should be out by summer

sony gets a bad rap because they make products that look better than they work.

form > function.......

is this fine for 99% of people? hell yes.

the people who genuinely don't care about looks, and would rather have a deck that performs as well as a sony looks don't give sony 'people' a hard time

the people with an adgenda are those who buy outrageously exensive decks, or other equipment, because they 'thought' they could tell the difference, and now they're pissed off and bitter because none of their friends can tell the difference, and their friends all like the 'other guy's' car better because his shit looks a hell of a lot cooler.

i personally don't care for sony products, but if that's what you want, and it soudns fine to you, i could care less.

if you come on here telling people that sony is the best, and that if it doesn't play atrac3plus 32kb/s then it isn't worth a ****, my adgenda will shift violently away from your favor.

sony looks cool. yes. sony doesn't sound very good. no. if it's good enough for you, and you like the way it looks to have las vegas in your dash, then who am i to judge.

I had gotten 2 of the P5 Xplod 10s as a gift a few years back and they were shit. I had them hooked up to a 400 RMS profile amp and I blew the shit out of them
