I am having a hell of a time getting my amp to accept power without turning off.. I have a Diamond Audio D3600.1 mono amp that is hooked to a dual 4OHM 15" JL W6 subwoofer in a sealed box.. I also have a low level converter with bass control hooked to the stock stereo of my 06 VW Passat.. The gain on the amp is barely turned up and the bass EQ on the amp is about half way up.. When I turn the volume up on my stereo and barely turn up the bass on the low level converter, the amp turns off.. When I turn the bass down on the low level converter and turn it back up the amp turns back on.. What could be causing the amp to act like that? The amp is not overheated because it happens when I just turn it on..

The bass EQs are causing the amp to clip and go into protection. For every 3dB of boost you dial in the amp is trying to put out twice as much power. As you can see just a little boost can quickly overdrive the amp. Turn the bass boosts to zero and then set the gain correctly.
