Why do people like direct leads?

I can understand not wanting push terminals in high powered installations. My old RE SXs had allen screw down terminals that just barely accepted 2 twisted 8 awg wires. I dunno, years ago I had never seen a sub with direct leads and now it seems much more common. Just wondering what caused the trend. I'd still prefer screw terminals.

Direct leads are great for high power subs that are getting 3000+ watts allowing for much bigger wire to be used. Push terminals dont bother me on entry level woofers because there is simply no need for 8g speaker wire in a 1500watt subwoofer.
