Because they're huge. Famous world-round. Everyone knows who they are, and people think their records are worth their weight in gold. Just like the new stuff from U2. And it's shit. A big steaming pile of it.

I'm not saying other stuff doesn't ****, too. Most stuff on the radio now is unbearable, but luckily, most of those bands are one-hit wonders or something close to it. And as far as sampling goes... Why? A song can be good, even excellent or epic without it. Look at "Won't get fooled again" or "Stairway to Heaven". Those songs are EPIC and don't have a hint of sampling. They're completely original. In fact, I can't think of a great song that has parts of other songs in it. Great artists realize that they can't lean on the excellence of other artists.

Creativity and originality > Sampling.

so and so featuring so and so with an appearance by so and so using a remix of an 80's song

X2 My taste in music expands from the old stiff to the new stuff but I actually like the old stuff better. My friend thinks Linkin Park is so awesome just because they made the music for transformers. Not saying it's bad but shoot I can name 20 people that are better than them. I enjoy coldplay some of there songs have a rely good beats and some ear piercing highs. Give my Billy Joel, Santana, Michel Bubble', Journey, The eagles or any of the others any day.
