Why do my Comps keep blowing?

I have a set of MTX TX6001 components speakers and after a month of use one of the mid bass drivers stopped working. I exchanged it for another set and now the same thing happened again. They are being powered off an Pioneer 4800 deck, without an amp. Anyone know why this could be happening?

I do plan on getting an amp but I read somewhere it was perfectly fine to run comps off Head unit power. Do all comps require amp power?

so how much better will components sound when amped? And what kind of amp should I get?
It is like comparing a dvd to a vhs. Having them amped will make the world of difference. As for amps, search around, this question is quite frequently asked. Any half way decent 70-100 or so watts per channel should be sufficient, and much cleaner than deck power.

One amp which i am considering buying is the Rockford Fosgate P450.4. Is this amp any good? I plan on using two channels to power the comps but will i be able to bridge the other two channels to power a subwoofer?

yes.

RF P450.4:

2 x 112.5rms = comps

1 x 225rms briged = sub

that means your sub will get 225 watts rms. that's um...your call.

Would the 225 watts be suitable for a Sub?
Preferably, to reduce noise/distortion, people tend to 'overbuy' their amps, in order to give them a headroom of power to wwork with. So, in essence, 225 RMS sub power would be fine for quite a few non-competition subs, IE, Type-E's, Type-S's, RF P1's, etc...

Basically, you want a nice name sub with an RMS anywhere between 225-300 watts. Get it tuned right (do your research and grab a DMM) and you'll thump happily.
