Why do monoblock amps have two (L/R) inputs

Well, the title pretty much says it all....Why do monoblocks have two inputs, one for left, and one for right?

This question came about because I'm currently installing a sub/amp into a car using a line level converter, and am unsure whether I have to tap both the left on right channel, or just one? Answers to either question will be appreciated. Thanks

Use both the left and right input to make sure that you have good line level input signal voltage. Most amps are set up this way because music is mostly recorded in at least two channels even bass which is considered mono or single point. There are however alot of songs with bass information recorded in stereo. Not to mention that there aren't many pieces of equipment out there with a single mono sub output unless it's some sort of surround processor and even then most of them still have stereo outputs for the subs.
