Why do i keep popping fuses? Help!!

I recently just added a 4 gauge wire to my car. I ran it just like i ran my previous power wire and i have a fuse holder attaced and everything. Im using the same ground i used before. Now when i hook up my amp, sherwood 250 x 2 ab old *** amp, i pop both of the 30a fuses in the amp. Ive tried it multiple different ways, with the negative off the battery, connect ground 2nd, etc... Anyone got a clue why? Help would be appreciated!

Put new fuses in the amp, and take it to the battery, and wire together the remote wire and the power wire, and go ahead and ground the amp to battery ,then touch the remote/power wire to poss connection.. if the fuses pop, then the amp needs be opened up and locate the repair needed, ..if it does not, and stays lit up as normal operation,.. my opinion would be to check you wiring/ grounds. Easy way I check amps to see if they power up???Only takes about 10-15 min.Good luck:D

Nah i have it all connected and when i connected my ground i get a spark and my fuses are blown
If it's popping fuses when it's not even supposed to be on, (ie remote turn-on lead isn't putting 12v to it) then something is probably very wrong inside the amp. (Speaker wires and load shouldn't even come into play when the amp is off.)

I've had this problem, Where as soon as I would put the power/ground in it would spark up and kill the fuse. Was the amp working previously? Did you put in the ground/power opposite?

When I had this problem its because the amp had shorted fets and/or power supply from what I was told.

Its a **** shame when that kind of thing happens, I remember working all day on getting the wiring for my second amp then the amp **** on me.

And Ive had a couple problems with the amp but i dont think ive blown it. Not yet at least:p

more than likely. Take a multi meter on the impedance option and put the negative to ground and positive to power & see the impedance it gives you.

IIRC it should give you some lower numbers, if that is the case then its probably blown.

But that test up there is something I did a while ago, so I apologize if I gave you the wrong instructions for the test. Won't harm anything to try though.
