Why do amps of same power cost differently?

I am pretty confused about this stuff. Why do you have to pay 500-600 bucks for a nice rockford fosgate pushing around 1500 when you could buy an orion or ed for under 400? Is it really quality issues? Or are you just paying the extra 100-200 for the name rf? I really can't decide what to do for my 15" XXX. There are so many threads i've read on the exact same issue and none help me. Orion, elemental designs, viper, power acoustik............these and tons more pop up everywhere as being good....i do not know.

Well so you are saying that it's because some amps are better quality than others? Because a mercedes is better quality car than a honda. You reccomend orion though?

there is a lot to do with quality but in some cases it is just the name (aka RF/JL)

it's mostly marketing if anything. if theyre somewhat unknown price usually tells a lot
