Why disconnect the negative

I don't understand why everyone says to disconnect the negative or cold leads from the battery instead of the positive or hot leads. With the hot still connected if you touch your power cable to any metal it will still ground out and could blow your fuse. I was hoping someone could put up some rational behind disconnecting the neg and not the pos form the battery, thanks!

it runs in a loop, once the ground is disconnected the loop is broken. if the neg was not disconnect and the positive terminal or cable touched a piece of metal is when you would blow your fuse and possibly really fvck up your electrical system.

It's typically safer to accidently drop the positive lead onto the body of the car while the car is not grounded compared to dropping a positive lead on a car when it is grounded.
