Why did my sub blow??

my buddy had the same 4 ga wire as me, and hes got a jl 1000.1 running a 13.5 w7 and his wire burnt also. it was melting where the power wire came off the battery, around the fuse and the ground off the cap was starting to melt. so we both bought 2 ga wire. but i have no idea why it was melting other than i couldve been cheap wire? what can causes power wire to burn? i think i was just pushing the subs past its limit.

what fusing are you guys using on your 4 awg power wire just off the + battery terminal

and how long are these 4 awg runs

It sounds like the wire is grounding out on the frame or something.

im runnin some random ebay 4guage wire straight from batt, no fuse, im getting 14.4 volts at the amp, no distro block, nothing. i have never had a problem with anything.

bass boost is bad.

buy knu koncepts 4 guage wire, that way u know its not ur wire. buy better subs than alpine...
