why cant subwoofers be fused

i personally think is a good idea to fuse the sub to prevent damage to it, specially when you're running a low power sub on a hi power amp, i rather lose a fuse then an amp or sub!

i believe an 8amp fuse will keep you from sending over 256watts to the sub.

The reason I don't like fuses for woofer protection is that they might not blow for several amps after their current rating - several amps could mean several hundred more watts to the driver.

Just set the gains correctly with a DMM the first time, and you won't ever have to worry about the thing blowing.

That'd be annoying removing the sub everytime you blow a fuse to replace it, I'd rather blow it into the next world...

if the gap is deep enough, the spider could land on the top plate before the coil bottoms out also.
