Why best buy sucks?

Best buys install quality doesnt **** (if im doing the install) prices arent that great IMO though. BTW gumby the reason your sisters car or whatever was wired like that is because she obviously had it hardwired. When i hardwire i strip wires back off the factory harness, seperate them, stick the wires of the radio harness through, then wrap them around the wire, and tape. Thats all you really need. All that heatshrink and marine grade tubing and soldering and all that doesnt matter IMO. True soldering gets you a better connection but is it noticable? Not in my book.

I work at bby btw, and ive seen some shitty work done but not by myself. The other day our "Senior" installer did a factory amp override on some bmw with a 3 way system in each door. He chopped all the wires off the factory amp and wired each woofer, mid, and tweeter directly to the radio harness //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif Yet hes so much better than me or the other guys. lol

Because they hire people with little to no knowledge of car audio, audio in general, or even basic wiring, and if they do happen to hire someone with the know how they get stuck stocking dvds. They push crappy products for more than they are worth, and you would be lucky to get even crimped connections. last thing car audio related I bought at best buy was a head unit adapter, and it was wired wrong.
what, may i ask, is a head unit adapter and how was it "wired wrong"

I actually use to work for the installation bay at a best buy. It is not that they **** it is just that they dont have any common scenes the guy that I worked with just used pics of a computer to install a stereo while I knew what wires went were. We do a check list before and after we do an install.
well thats a prime example of why i wont take anything to BB he said he worked there and wow read that close and ask yourself will u take anything to bb haha

There is nothing wrong with Best Buy, there are some bad installers there but in general they are pretty decent.

I Would even say the average installer at best buy is a much better installer than 90% of the people on this forum. They get bad rep for retards who **** shit up every once in a while but thats going to happen when you have 3000+ installers at your company.

Matter of fact 3 Best Buy installers were nominated for installer of the year.

Honestly do it yourself if you have the tools paitence and at least a little bit of skills otherwise pay a professional because even a great product installed like shit will still be shit.

It is the cool thing to say they **** here, I have used them to install an amp twice during the winter (no garage FTL) and they did fine. I have seen shoddy work come out of 'custom' audio shops also so it is based on the installer and the quality which the shop manager requires they keep more than anything.

You can't blame the company as a whole for the individual installer's work, and this is coming from someone who despises best buy. Unless you know the installer's work firsthand, it's always a crapshoot.

what are common scenes? maybe it is because they hire illiterate assholes like yourself. did your tech use directechs?

really, i had to have at least 2 years retail and install experience before they hired me. as a manager i looked for the same and none of my assistants would allow a person to be hired unless they knew kirchoffs law, ohms, law, and the PIE chart off the top of their heads. certification was a plus, but not necessary. what kind of headunit adapter did you buy? what vehicle do you have? does it have a factory amplified system?

aren't you the guy that was incompetent enough to pay spider monkey because you though he was an employee at kicker? you must be inadequate as a human to work there as well.

very true, at one time i had 9 installers working under me at my old store in san antonio. four of them had a combined career of 65 years and had extensive knowledge of spl vehicles and full custom builds. some had been leading installers at local shops in the past, but the hourly pay beat the competitive commission based system in the real world. i also worked with a great team at the 2 stores in houston i worked at. austin had plenty of great installers and san antonio also had a total of 22 very good and knowledgeable installers. there were a few newbs, but they were not bad at all for the basic installs.

Hey ******* I was self taught by reading and making mistakes but learning as I go but I put pride in my work and even though I dont know everything "like yourself" I am still learning and never afraid of learning new things.

well then learn how to spell "sense", you shithead. you dont know jackshit and should go over to circuit city roadshop. i see a bright future for you over there.

i've worked at 2 diff. best buys... and they RARELY even checked that crap... just checked the boxes, and got onto workin on the car

the problem with Best Buy is they don't have enough hardware to do stuff properly. There is some degree of customizing in almost all of CA, and soemthing as small as a 2" tiny piece of Sound deadner could cost you 30 bucks, and they won't give you the rest of it, they will just use what they need, and charge you for the whole thing... they ****.. C.C Ftw

they offered me to be in charge of the install bay!!! lol... i have very little experience

What tools do I need?
Probably just a pair of wire cutters, some screwdrivers, and the like.

It'll involve first pulling out the HU, checking the wire connections, and you can either buy an adapter, or match wires and crimp them yourself. If you want the adapter, look in the store for one that matches your car model.

For the rear speakers, you just need to pull the ones you have out, and put the new ones in, reconnecting the wires. Since I assume you aren't running any amplifiers. Pulling them out will depend on the car - mine, all I needed to do was unscrew the grills over them, pull out the screws, and I was done. My friend had to pull his seat back, and move the board over them to get to them, but it wasn't that difficult to do by any means. Mine was a pain, as I was installing 6x9's into a 6.5" slot, and had to make myself a custom baffle, but you should be fine.

If you want more detailed instructions, by all means, just PM me. I'll assist ya as best as I can.

i understand that no, not ALL Best buy installers are complete morons, some may be the best around. but as stated, most that are worth a **** know that they aren't getting paid near enough for their expertise and craft. so yes, i firmly believe most (all in my personal experience) were f-ing retarded and prolly know more about the "dishwasher" than they do about car audio.

Bottom line is if you want overpriced sony jvc and pioneer with a history of poor installation, best buy is your Best Bet.....

How's this for a shady install shop:

At one of the flea market's down here they have a little car audio store (mostly cheap knockoff brands) and the sign reads:

$60 to install

$90 if you watch

$120 if you help
