Honda + Subs = Rattles :(
RF POWER HX2 has 4" coils on a 10". How is a 3" coil not possible on something that is only marginally smaller? Granted, the HX2 basket is really steep in it's bowl shape to keep a decent size spider landing... and they're prone to go soft (like my spiders did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif)

The issue is not so much if you can do it at all... but if it would **** (which it would) to have a spider that small. All sorts of thermal capacity with no throw at all... big waste.

I really cant see why anyone would want an 8 to take that much power. Im running a 8" true bass ultra on 400-450 watts and it slams for an 8. I never knew such a little driver on such low wattage could be so loud. Granted its not what most consder SLAM material, but for what it is, very powerful.

didnt read all the posts but it basically comes down to fitting the largest coil possible to the cone while still retaining a usable suspension.
larger coil gives higher thermal capacity but at the cost of usable suspension and therefore excursion capability. Possibly using an innovative basket design would allow for a full 8" spider to be used but thats the hard part.
Honestly tho low power is king. Efficiency has been lost in the woods with a lot of these new designs that are all about taking tons of power granted they get really loud they are highly inefficient requiring 5k+ to make numbers.
however, its not unnecessary because at some point your limited by the amount of box you can fit in the vehicle when you hit this point efficiency may not yield the most output especially if you have tons of power to use. when youve crammed the largest box possible into your vehicle (cone area) your only option to get louder at this point is to use woofers which can take more power but that successfully convert this extra power into output. If it simply eats the power but the subs are so stiff they dont move then you gain nothing.
