why are so many subs dvc these days

It can be slightly more of a pain, but an easy way to deal with it when using multiple subwoofers is to go ahead and wire each subwoofer up to your desired load per subwoofer, then worry about wiring each subwoofer together. For example, if you're running 2 dual 4 ohm subwoofers, you can go ahead and wire each subwoofer down to 2 ohms, then from that point go ahead and wire the two down to one ohm to make it less confusing (as opposed to just trying to wire all 4 coils together at once)

Not really that difficult, but allows you to run a lot of different amplifiers than the single voice coil option would.
