Why are small cars so **** loud?

Somethings been bugging me lately, and it stemmed from a few installs ive done. Why is it that when you put any type of setup inside a smaller car it seems to be loud as hell on the outside of the car too? Like for example, i can stand beside my car with the windows down and such, and hear it, but its nothing compared to how loud it is on the inside. But like with a honda (or probably any other small 4d car) for example, may not be that loud in general, but its loud as hell on the outside of the car? Its like they could pull a badass drive by score in a comp. Is it just the size of the vehicle? The fact that they have a really small trunk? I want to eventually do an SPL trunk car that will be loud as hell in general, so im just trying to get my info sorted out so i can make a well informed decision. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Maybe because smaller compact cars aren't as solid and don't have any type of sound dampening. Kind of like slamming the door on a Honda Civic vs. a Mercedes.
yeah thats what i think. the road noise in the ford escape is much quieter than in the honda fit

My car is small and loud as piss outside, and i have tons of deadening. I probably have more on each door than most people have in their whole car. Actually after being throughly deadened it is now louder outside. I dont know why you would want to be loud outside of your car tho.

i had this issue with my Maxima... I think I only set off 1 car alarm the whole time I had that car...kept the sound in pretty well... which isnt necessarily a bad thing....but on the other hand.. my friend had 4x HX2 10's in an RSX.... on 75% volume, he was movin the windows on the house across the street (good 50 yds away)

Well, being loud on the outside is good for business if you do installs and such on the side, you know all the homeboys want their subs to be heard far away because the music world has hyped that up to be cool. For some reason it seems like my car is louder the farther away you get //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I deadened my trunk with expanding foam in the lid and damplifier pro and it made it a good bit louder on the outside though, so i think deadener helps get the sound into the cabin vs keeping it inside the trunk. I dont see why having alot of deadener would effect outside loudness negatively, unless you mean with the windows up. Im definatly gonna look for a small 2d trunk car though when i decide to get an SPL car.

its simple cabin gain, as said before, my neon isnt very loud, but when im driving around my buddys could hear me when i was a bit less than 5 min. out... then again my car is a hunk a junk that has way to many air leaks etc, neither of my front windows will roll up all the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Why does it matter. No1 wants to hear ur beat anyways ***.

Sorry i hurted your vag. No1 wants to hear ur reply anyways ***. However i see where your coming from, if i lived in a small subdivision with mommy i probably wouldnt like hearing bass inside the house either. But i live out in the country, nothing but the occasional house or gas station, so i dont see anything wrong with bumping with the windows down. Its rather relaxing i think, i enjoy riding with the wind in my hairz and dbz in my earz. However i usually keep it down in the city limits, just to be respectful.

are we comparing civics to 86 caprices and caddys or civic to maximas

I was mainly comparing old school GM B-bodys to newer cars like small hondas, nissans and etc.
